Johannes Dietl in English
Johannes Dietl (b.1957) began his musical career as a member of the „Choir Boys of the Vienna Woods“ (Sängerknaben vom Wienerwald). After obtaining his general qualification for university entrance he studied music pedagogy at the University of Music in Vienna, from which he graduated with honours. He has been teaching music at the Bundesgymnasium (Grammar School, High School) Baden near Vienna since 1980. Johannes Dietl plays the piano and the organ and has worked as an organist since 1973 (first in Moedling, and since 1985 in Gumpoldskirchen).Since 1978 he has been leading the Gumpoldskirchen male choir MACH4, in 1980 he founded Vocalitas, a male double quartet. With Vocalitas he played concerts in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany Slovenia, Italy and Austria. He led the choir until 2004.
Since 1989 he has also been the leader of the mixed ensemble Nota Bene (concerts in the USA, Belgium and Austria).
Numerous CD recordings with his choirs show Johannes Dietl’s versatility and accomplishments. From 1988-1998 Johannes Dietl was federal choir master of the Singers‘ Union of Vienna and Lower Austria. He also worked as a trainer for choir masters and conducted several workshops for choirs.
Johannes Dietl was and still is a lecturer at various music events ( e.g. one-day or week-long singing workshops), he regulary organizes and leads a week-long family singing workshop in Lower Austria, and he is a member of the jury at various national and international choir competitions. On April 26th, 2005 Landeshauptmann Dr. Erwin Pröll handed out the commemorative medaillon to Mag. Johannes Dietl as a gratitude to his praiseworthy work for his home region Niederösterreich.
